Grief services An important part of our service is helping families and friends come to terms with the loss of a loved one. Mercy Western Grief Services (MWGS) offers accessible counselling services for people living in the western region of Melbourne.
Volunteers Our volunteers provide an invaluable contribution to our team and significantly enhance the care we are able to provide our patients, their families and carers. We provide our volunteers with training programs to equip them with necessary skills. Their compassion and understanding benefits our patients in immeasurable ways.
Social Work Social workers and psychologists provide counselling and support services to families and carers of patients on our program.
Education We regard ongoing education as an important part of our program and education is provided to patients and families on a daily basis.
Demand for our experience and accumulated knowledge has increased the various education sessions we offer members of the aged and palliative care sector.
Library We offer a library service for staff, patients, families and supporters of the organisation. A wide range of videos, books and journals on many aspects of palliative care, terminal illness, cancer, bereavement, welfare services, death and dying, along with some fiction is available.
Bereavement Bereavement services include counselling support, day and evening adult support groups, evening and adolescent support groups, twice-yearly memorial services and an annual 'Coping with Christmas' service.
Mercy Palliative Care provides palliative care to terminally ill patients in their own homes. However, much more than this, we give patients and their families understanding and compassionate support.
